Greenpeace is dead set on traveling to the North Pole this year's April and planting a so-called flag for the future meant to raise awareness about the need to protect the Arctic region.

Recent news says that actor Ezra Miller will join three conservationists on their journey, simply because he is also very much preoccupied about safeguarding this frozen region.

Despite his not having any previous experience in terms of being an explorer, “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” star says that he is fully committed to environmental protection and hopes that his determination will help him succeed in his endeavor.

“I’ve never camped in the snow before and I’m definitely not an Arctic explorer, but I’m determined to plant this flag at the North Pole to declare it protected. I’m traveling with three young people who want to create a sanctuary up there and take on climate change across the world,” Ezra Miller reportedly argued.

What upsets both Ezra Miller and Greenpeace is the fact that, despite the Arctic's melting as a fast pace, several companies are considering the possibility of drilling for oil in that part of the world.

By planting this flag, which was chosen by fashion designer Viviene Westwood following an international competition, Greenpeace and Ezra Miller hope to stress the fact that the Arctic belongs to the people and cannot be toyed with by oil and gas companies.

The flag will be lowered to the Arctic's seabed, and will be accompanied by a pod containing a list of roughly 2.7 names belonging to people who strongly oppose Arctic drilling.

During this Arctic expedition, the actor will have no choice except spend almost 8 hours skiing on a daily basis, and camp in subfreezing temperatures.

“Even after months of training I’m still pretty terrified about skiing across the frozen Arctic Ocean,” Ezra Miller admits.

“But I feel really honored to have been asked to take part along with these amazing young people, and it’s a story that I will tell to my grandchildren once we’ve won this huge fight against climate change,” the actor wishes to stress.
