Comedic actor Chris Kattan was taken into custody this morning after he was involved in a car accident. Police officers are now holding him on charges of DUI.

TMZ claims that the incident took place on a Southern California freeway in the early hours of Monday morning. The former Saturday Night Live actor was traveling in his Mercedes when he was spotted by the Highway patrol driving erratically.

The police officers on the scene say that Kattan's car began weaving in and out of lanes on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles. The car was said to be “weaving all over the roadway at slow speeds.”

They pulled the actor over after he managed to crash into a Department of Transportation vehicle that belonged to a crew that was at the moment performing maintenance work on a guardrail. This happened when Kattan entered with his car in a zone that was coned off for a freeway closure.

Fortunately, the car crash resulted in no injuries, but the 43-year-old actor was taken away on suspicion of DUI. The cops who performed the arrest told media that Kattan seemed really out of it.

The SNL veteran looked under dressed for the cold winter night as he emerged in a pair of sweatpants and a T-shirt out of his car that had its front side smashed. When asked to perform a field sobriety test, Kattan struggled to take a couple of steps, flailed his arms in the air and nearly fell over.

It was at this point that he was taken into custody. He later admitted to being on prescription medication.

Kattan's most famous performance is that on Saturday Night Live where he did a stint between 1996 and 2003. During that time, he famously portrayed the character Mango.

Among his most commonly known movies is the 1998 comedy “A Night at the Roxbury,” alongside Will Ferrell, in which they played a couple of ditsy brothers with hopes of fame.
