Eric Hirshberg, the chief executive officer at Activision, says that his company is interested in exploring the unique nature of video game streaming for competitive events and wants to enhance the public’s participation.

He is quoted by VG247 as saying that, “I feel like there’s an organic thing that’s happening. I’m more interested in supercharging that thing that’s already happening organically than transforming it into an existing ecosystem like television, because they’re not always compatible.”

The Activision executive believes that there are elements that streaming and television have in common, but he is interested in seeing how the real-time nature of streaming makes players more interested in interacting with it.

Activision is getting into the eSport space with Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the Treyarch first-person shooter, which is set to get a tournament with 1 million dollars prize purse (747,000 Euro).
