Video game publisher Activision says that the final half of 2013 is a period of uncertainty, mainly because of the risks associated with the launch of next-generation hardware and the problems that the Nintendo Wii U is currently facing.

Bobby Kotick, the leader of the company, is quoted by VG247 as stating during a financial report that, "The shift in release dates of competing products, the disappointing launch of the Wii U, uncertainties regarding next-generation hardware, and subscriber declines in our World of Warcraft business all raise concerns, as do continued challenges in the global economy."

It's not clear what insider information the executive has about the launch of the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox 720 from Microsoft.

Both companies will try to generate big initial sales and deliver an impressive slate of launch titles.
