Activision has announced the first pieces of downloadable content for its recently released DJ Hero, with two packs set to arrive during November and more content planned as support for the title after that. Players who have gone through the 93 mixes that are part of the disc-based element of
DJ Hero can now head to the Xbox Live service or to the PlayStation Network and get two new tracks: “All of Me” from 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige, mixed with “Radio Ga Ga” from Queen, and “DARE” from Gorillaz, mixed with “Can't Truss It” from Public Enemy.
With these two tracks already out, Activision says that the next DLC pack is set to arrive on November 25 on the Xbox Live Marketplace and on the PSN featuring three tracks remixed by David Guetta.
The three tracks included are “When Love Takes Over” with Kelly Rowland, “Sexy Chick” featuring Akon, and “On The Dance Floor” with contributions from will.i.am and apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas. The Nintendo Wii will get both the content packs mentioned on November 24 with all the tracks available as individual downloads.
DJ Hero seems to have performed worse than expected on the release date. In the United Kingdom charts, the game only managed to debut at number 20, which suggests that players might not be attracted to the disk-jockeying mechanics or that the high price of the bundle, which comes complete with a turn-table controller, might be too much to ask from players who have already bought titles like Guitar Hero or Rock Band.
A constant release of tracks via DLC, some of them from high-profile artists, might help bring some more sales to Activision, which is so confident in the success of DJ Hero, that it is already in
talks with artists for a sequel.
