Video game publisher Activision Blizzard believes that it needs to create entirely new types of video games in order to continue growing during the coming years, based on the free-to-play mode and using microtransaction concepts.

An official Securities and Exchange Commission filing from the company, quoted by VG247, states, “Our business model is evolving and we believe that our growth will depend upon our ability to successfully develop and sell new types of products.”

Activision also wants to increase its focus on digital distribution in order to reach a wider audience.

So far, the publisher has only announced one game, Bungie, as coming to the new generation of consoles, via the PlayStation 4 presentation in New York.

A new Call of Duty game will soon be revealed for an autumn launch, presumably only for current-gen devices.
