Activision has revealed that it’s trying to cope with the huge demand for Skylanders toys, as millions of people are trying to buy extra characters for their game.

Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure has taken the world by storm last year, as its unique premise, of using real world toys to add different characters in the game impressed lots of young and old gamers across platforms like the PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, 3DS and more.

While sales were great before the winter holiday season, demand increased even more during the festivities, as lots of parents flocked to video game stores and bought the game for their kids and families.

Now, after most kids have already exhausted the three toys that are included in the standard edition of Skylanders, parents are on the search for more toys in the series.

This has led to lots of shortages in a variety of retail and online stores, according to Kotaku, which was quickly exploited by eBay users that have begun selling Skylanders toys for way more than their recommended price.

According to Activision’s Vice President of Marketing, John Coyne, its facilities are making the toys as fast as possible, but the demand is increasing exponentially.

"We are doing our best to keep up with the consumer demand for Skylanders and to keep product on the shelves. Skylanders was one of the most popular gifts this holiday season and demand for toys has continued to rise week after week without any signs of slowing down. We're shipping Skylanders toys out as soon as they come off the production lines and will get them to stores as quickly as we can."

Activision hopes to cope with the demand before spring, when the latest batch of Skylanders characters will be deployed into retail stores. Until then, let’s hope for the sake of parents and fans from all around the world that these shortages will be solved.
