Activision announced very good financial results yesterday, getting more than 1 billion dollars in revenue and almost 200 million in new profit during the last quarter. And buried pretty deep in the financial data released are signs that James Bond, Spider Man and Tony Hawk are getting new iterations in the coming year. Mike Griffith, the president of Activision, cited the “company's commitment to proven franchises” as the main reason behind creating these games.

Griffith has confirmed that the company plans to create a new James Bond adventure but he has not offered any other details related to the project.

The previous James Bond title released by Activision was Quantum of Solace, which accompanied the film bearing the same name and offered players a chance to experience episodes linked with the plot of both Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale. The game was entertaining but pretty run of the mill, with limited innovation, a pretty spread out plot and repetitive firefights.

Activision has not said whether Treyarch, which created Quantum of Solace while also working on Call of Duty: World at War, will be in charge of the new title or whether the plot will be based on previous movies featuring 007 or whether it will have a wholly new and original plot. There's the possibility that the fresh videogame will serve as sort of a prequel for another movie that might be announced shortly.

Also of interest is the announcement of a new Spider Man title, especially considering that there's also talk about another movie featuring the popular super hero. The fact that Tony Hawk will be getting another game so soon after the peripheral sporting RIDE should be taken into consideration, suggesting that the company is eager to cash in on all its important properties in 2010.
