Video game developer Now Production and publisher Activision Blizzard have announced that they are working together on a new game called Transformers Prime, designed to launch exclusively on the Nintendo Wii home console and on the new 3DS handheld.

The game is based on the animated television show with the same name, created by Hasbro Studios, which is being currently offered by Cartoon Network.

Transformers Prime allows gamers to take on the roles of Optimus Prime, Arcee, Nulkhead, bumblebee and others as they explore Earth and try to stop Megatron from gaining access to a new weapon that threatens the history of humanity.

David Oxford, the executive vice president at Activision Publishing, stated, “Hasbro Studios has done a phenomenal job with the Transformers Prime television show. We are collaborating closely with the series creators to capture all the adventure, humour and friendships from the show to create an authentic action experience for TRANSFORMERS fans of all ages to enjoy.”
