A few days ago, Nova Launcher, one of the most popular third-party launchers available on Android devices, received an update that included support for the “OK, Google” hotword on any homescreen, and a similar application is now offering the same functionality.

We’re referring here to the Action Launcher Beta, which is now available for download as version 2.1, and which also offers support for the hotword.

Moreover, the new flavor of the application has been released with a new feature aimed at enabling users to turn the screen off at easy, without having to press the power button.

For that, they will simply have to double-tap the screen, as long as there is an empty space on the display, where to perform this action, of course. Various other enhancements were also included in the new release.

One thing that you should keep in mind right from the start is the fact that the application is available in a beta flavor for the time being, and that users interested in trying it out will have to join a beta test group, as droid-life notes.

Those interested in doing so should head over to this Google+ Community and opt in for the beta testing program in the Google Play Store. The application will be updated through the official portal the very same way as any other software.
