Avnera is a very new name on the wireless chip market but it looks like their collaboration with Acoustic Research was a more than inspired move. The same thing could actually be said about AR as they have decided to get in close relations with Avnera and work together to produce better sounding wireless
gear...pretty much any manufacturer's dream. Unlike in other cases with others' experiments, the Acoustic Research - Avnera partnership evolved and gave birth to some new products that are really cool and will most likely be hits.

It's the case of a new wireless headset, codenamed AWD210, embedding Avnera's latest AudioMagic chip. The whole thing is on in the classic 2.4GHz range but things differ when it comes to sending and receiving uncompressed, CD-quality data wirelessly. It looks like Avnera has managed to make some damn good technology as the first hands-on tests with the Acoustic Research AWD210 have proved to be extremely favorable.

The Acoustic Research AWD210 headphones are said to be capable of picking up crystal-clear sound from a distance as big as 100 feet, error- and interference-free, for optimal listening conditions. Another cool thing about these headphones is the fact that they use a patented dual-driver array in each ear-cup, providing a much better-contoured representation across the whole audio spectrum, from the dense and enveloping bottom-end to the crisp highs. The Acoustic Research headphones use 30mm and 40mm drivers.

Selling for prices just under $200 a piece, the product is not a cheap piece of audio technology but it isn't damn expensive either, at least not for those who truly value the great audio quality combined with the wearing comfort and the freedom offered by wireless headsets. Not a word on detailed specs yet but such data is soon to be officially released.
