Computer maker Acer is gearing up for the launch of Windows Phone handsets too, though it will make the move only next year, it seems.

The company has already confirmed plans to launch Windows Phone devices in the first half of the next year, claiming that this would be a “strategic play” from its part.

The upcoming device will run under Windows Phone 8, and should prove a great option to those who are interested in using both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, it seems.

As tweakers.net reports, Acer has previously launched a Windows Phone 7.5 handset, the Allegro, a 3.7-inch smartphone that landed on shelves last year as a low-level smartphone.

Unfortunately, no specific details on the hardware specs or design of the future phone have been provided, though it should prove a better option than Allegro, WMPOweruser notes.
