We've seen wearable sensors, phone gloves, smartwatches, augmented reality headsets and lots of other gadgets that are worn on the body, but Acer still found a relatively untouched field of R&D: jewelry.
According to an (alleged) anonymous source within Acer that spoke to the CNA (as reported by Focus Taiwan), Acer is designing a potentially game-changing device that is neither a watch nor a pair of glasses.
Focus Taiwan goes on to speculate that we might end up seeing a necklace with integrated temperature sensors, or something else of the sort.
Given that I actually saw smartrings before, this may very well happen.
We can;t confirm anything though. Acer, or the ones reporting on its assumed plans, never quite made it beyond “vague” in their information leaks. They only said that Acer was making a “distinctive product” that wouldn’t be out this quarter, and maybe not in the second either.
