Acer poised to launch two gaming laptops by the end of 2015

Acer has plans of conquering the gaming market, so with this in mind, the company is prepping a brand new lineup of products set to arrive under the Predator moniker.

This weekend we have already discussed the Predator tablet, which is apparently slated for release in Q3 2015. But building on the apparent success of its Aspire Nitro notebook lineup, Acer is also preparing to roll out two notebooks coming with 15-inch and 17-inch displays, respectively.

Well, this week, the folks over at Notebook Check managed to get some extra information about the upcoming laptops, which we will share with you in what follows.

The Predator 15 and Predator 17 (not their final names, are likely to change until release) are said to be out and about before the fourth quarter of the year.

The specs are not yet set in stone, but one thing is pretty clear, Acer wants to deliver maximum performance and the latest technologies while these two notebooks are concerned.

What we should expect from the Predator 15 and Predator 17

The laptops will probably take advantage of the Broadwell quad-core CPU, an architecture which will probably become available soon. However, Acer has mentioned the devices will take advantage of a “next-gen CPU,” which might suggest that Intel’s Skylake will be the power source of choice.

As far as the GPU is concerned, it’s quite unlikely we’re going to see an NVIDIA SLI setup, as Acer needs to keep things low in the pricing department. It’s possible that Acer will choose to implement NVIDIA’s current top-of-the-line GeForce GTX 980M solution, but this is just speculation at this point.

Acer’s current high-end gaming solution, the Aspire V Nitro Black Edition, which arrives with a 4K display and 3,840 x 2,160 pixel resolution, ships out only with NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 860M. On the other hand, NVIDIA will certainly push out a notebook GPU refresh by Q4 2015, so it’s possible the Predators will end up sporting something else.

We can also hypothesize that the models will support integrated G-Sync.

In the display department, we should see the two laptops arrive with matte screen surfaces and full HD resolution. Given the purported launch window, Acer should be offering these models with Windows 10 out of the box.

So what do you think about Acer's upcoming gaming efforts?
