Acer’s new A3-A30 model appears in benchmarks

Ever since Android 5.0 Lollipop rolled out five months ago, some device manufacturers have been quicker than others to pick up the update for their respective flagship smartphones.

But in the tablet department, we haven’t really seen things advance the same way. The only slates currently running Android 5.0 Lollipop are Google’s own Nexus 9 and NVIDIA’s Shield Tablet.

Apart from that, Polaroid teased a very cheap Lollipop tablet back at CES 2015, but the product is not currently available for purchase. ASUS also pushed out the new Fonepad 7 tablet which takes advantage of the same OS.

Huawei also introduced the MediaPad X2 model with Lollipop onboard, but the company is advertising the product as “not a tablet” due to its phone calling capabilities.

Anyway, the bottom line is that there aren't many tablets running Android 5.0 Lollipop, not very affordable ones anyway.

Acer is prepping a Lollipop tablet

Despite being quite silent in terms of tablets lately, Acer appears to be gearing up to introduce its first Lollipop slate.

As reported by AcerManiak, the Acer Iconia A3-A30 model has surfaced in benchmarks showing that the device will take advantage of Google’s new operating system.

The A3-A30 is the successor of the Iconia A3-A20, which is a 10.1-inch device. Well, according to the benchmark filing, the new model will also bring to the table a 10.1-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

Like in the case of the A3-A20, Acer will probably release a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution model as well, but this is just speculation for the time being.

A3-A30 will probably be powered by an Intel Atom Z3735F processor clocked at 1.33GHz, while the previous model relied on a MediaTek chip.

The slate makes use of 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a 5MP/2MP camera combo. In the connectivity department, users will find a microUSB 2.0, microHDMI output, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi.

All in all, the A3-A30 seems like a very decent tablet, and given the fact that Acer is expected to hold a press event in New York on April 23, we can expect to see the new slate make a debut then.
