After all the mishaps and increasingly lower sales it has seen in 2013, Acer continues to remain hopeful things will take a turn for the best.

Acer President of BYOC (Build Your Own Cloud) and Tablet Business Group, Maverick Shih has acknowledged that Acer is facing some “big challenges” in the global tablet market, but that he and his team are working on a strategy to counteract that trend (via FocusTaiwan).

So the company predicts it will see explosive growth in tablet shipments this year, even though the Android budget market has become increasingly saturated.

Acer has already set up a goal for 2014, hoping to ship as much as 10 million tablets worldwide. The company is trying to bring something extra to the table to attract more customers on board and plans to bundle its products with BYOC cloud services.

It was estimated that in 2013 Acer managed to ship 5 million tablets worldwide, so the device maker will have to double the numbers this year.

Acer has recently released two new budget tablet models on the market (the Iconia A1-830 and B-720), as well as a dedicated super cheap slate for the Chinese market (the Acer Tab 7), so maybe we'll see the manufacturer get back on track.
