Acer has been especially active on the laptop front over the past few months, in its quest to grow as much as possible on the mobile-PC market. Naturally, the company unveiled a significant number of both notebooks and netbooks, in order to cover the entire consumer base. There are, however, some products that were shown off that have still not been made available. One of these products was revealed in March and is known as the Aspire Ethos.

The Acer Aspire Ethos 8943G has now reportedly started showing up in retail stores. It is designed as a large notebook, with a large screen size of 18.4 inches, and it is powered by a choice of Intel Core i5, Core i7 or Core i3 central processing units.

Either CPU is backed up by up to 4GB of RAM and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 or HD 5850 graphics adapter, with support for DirectX 11 graphics. In addition, the notebook can be equipped with either one or two 2.5-inch hard drives. This means that the maximum storage capacity available is of 1.28 TB.

The connectivity and I/O capabilities of the Aspire Ethos 8943G predictably include Gigabit Ethernet, a 5-in-1 card reader, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, a multi-gesture touchpad, wireless connectivity via WiFi and optional Bluetooth and, last but not least, an HDMI output.

All of these components are packed inside a metallic chassis with an LED-backlit TFT display whose maximum resolution is of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Finally, to ensure that the device is at its best, both in terms of performance and functionality, the Ethos is pre-loaded with the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. All in all, this machine looks more than ready to cater to the needs of any consumer willing to pay at least $999 or more for their ultimate multimedia experience.
