Acer, the world's third largest computer manufacturer, has just announced today the debut of a new model part of its Timeline series of ultraportable systems. The new laptop brings a new level of portability, as it features a smaller 11.6-inch screen size and the latest Intel CULV processors, basically providing users with an alternative to all the 10-inch and 11.6-inch netbooks that are based on Intel's Atom processors. In addition, the company has also announced that it has updated its entire Aspire Timeline series of laptops to include new models that are featured with Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system and the latest Intel Core CULV dual-core processors, delivering an increased level of performance and new features.

“Acer is providing consumers with the best of all worlds with the new 11.6-inch Timeline – an affordable ultraportable that delivers long battery life and great performance in a compact and stylish design,” said Ray Sawall, senior manager of product marketing for Acer America. “By adding dual-core processors to the entire line, we’ve taken affordable mobile computing solutions to a new level.”

The new model, dubbed Aspire Timeline AS1810T, has been featured with an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor, clocked at 1.3GHz and coupled with up to 4GB of DDR2 dual-channel memory. Based on the Intel GS45 Express chipset, the new laptop features an 11.6-inch display with a maximum resolution of 1366x768 pixels, powered by the integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics chip. There's also a 320GB hard drive, card reader, three USB 2.0 ports, HMDI, 802.11 Draft-N wireless connectivity, a 6-cell battery pack and Microsoft's Windows 7 OS.

Acer also introduced new 13.3-inch, 14-inch and 15.6-inch models, with the AS3810T-8737, AS4810TZ-4508 and AS5810TZ-4784, respectively. These boast similar specifications with their predecessors, but provide a choice for Microsoft's upcoming Windows 7 OS and the new CULV processors from Intel.
