Though Acer has come to be known as the prime supplier of netbooks, having had its 2009 performance significantly boosted by this sector, the Taiwanese company is still a strong presence in all other market segments it tackles, including that of displays. In fact, in order to refresh its line of liquid crystal-using products, and maintain consumer interest, the PC supplier has reportedly unveiled a pair of new ATXX56 monitors, with high display quality and advanced features.

The AT2056 and AT2356 have display sizes of 20 inches and 23 inches, respectively, and a price difference of 50 Euro. Other than these two elements, it could be said that the solutions are very much alike in both performance and design. Boasting a black finish, they come with "Full HD" or "HD Ready" resolutions, have a contrast ratio of 20,000:1, a response time of 5ms and the 16:9 aspect ratio. Besides just this basic functionality, however, the two newcomers have the added benefits of channel controls, which let them act as TV sets.

Basically, the members of the duo come with DVB-T HD receivers, which allow them to display HD channels in full resolution. Additionally, they can switch between “far” and “close” viewing distance modes, allowing for maximum enjoyment at any distance from the screen itself. Furthermore, the displays come with a special firmware, which automatically adjusts picture settings depending on content. Finally, there are two HDMI sockets and even a “recall” button, which automatically switches to the channel watched most frequently.

Though these so-called TV monitors have already been detailed, they will not make it to market for quite some time yet. In fact, according to the report, they will only start selling on June 1. The 20-inch AT2056 will be priced at £200, whereas the 23-incher will ask for £250.
