It appears that Acer is once again acting on several different segments of the IT market at once, in this case that of PCs and monitors, having finally sent out a certain display of 23 inches, not just new computers.

As end-users probably learned by now, Advanced Micro Devices finally made the official introduction of the Fusion Llano A-Series APUs (accelerated processing units).

Those same people may or may not have come to know of how PC makers have, understandably, begun to unleash systems based on them.

Acer itself has done something of the sort, although it appears its recent activities have not been restricted to just the Aspire M and X.

What the outfit also did was finally start selling a certain monitor that was first revealed during last year's Computex show.

"Our newest desktop models and touch screen display provide our customers with leading technology in very practical form factors that can serve as an entertainment center for the entire household," said Irene Chan, senior business manager of consumer desktops for Acer America.

"With the power and performance to deliver beautiful visuals, excellent playback of high-def video, games and audio, they provide maximum entertainment value for years of enjoyment."

The product in question is the T231H monitor, a 23-inch display which, besides all the standard features of a high-quality LCD, features support for multi-touch input.

Speaking of standard features, the product, whose native resolution is of 1,920 x 1,080 (support Full HD, as expected) boasts a maximum brightness of 300 cd/m2.

Also, the dynamic contrast ratio of 50,000:1 is nothing to skimp over, and neither is the Adaptive Contrast Management (ACM) technology, which constantly adjusts it, for extra image sharpness.

Other specifications include a response time of 2ms and a stand that can be adjusted and tilted backwards, from 5 to 60 degrees.

All the above assets are now available to any US customer willing to part with the sum of $320.99 (European users have been able to buy it since August, 2010).
