Acer is reported to plan on releasing a few more smartphones to the market this year, one of which being F1, expected to land sometime in September. The handset should run under the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, and is also expected to be accompanied by nine other devices from Acer, some of which will probably also sport the Microsoft platform.

The total number of Acer mobile phones that should become available this year rises up to ten, while eight of them have been recently showcased at a press conference the company held in Amstelveen, reports All About Phones. The Acer F1 is the handset that caught all eyes, mainly due to the fact that it should include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon CPU.

Given the fact that Acer F1 will include the Qualcomm platform, the same as Toshiba’s ultra-thin TG01 handset, it should enable users to play HD content on it, courtesy of the ATI graphics that Snapdragon uses. In addition, the device will also come with support for MediaFLO, while including Acer Suite 2.0, a user interface similar to the HTC TouchFlo 3D, based entirely on flash.

For the time being, there are not too many details on the Acer F1 handset, and the only image available with the device is that of a prototype, yet it seems that Acer intends to publish a video with the mobile phone on its site in the near future, and we should be able to learn more about it then. What we know now is that the handset should feature a price tag of around €560 (about $758), when it becomes available in September.

Among the handsets that Acer will bring to the market this year we should also be able to spot an Android-powered mobile phone. The only detail available on it at the moment is that it might be one of the ten devices slated for release this year, and this confirms in a way previous reports on the Acer Android phone.
