The amount of storage space has the most effect on the final tag

Acer isn't going to be launching Windows RT tablets when Windows 8 comes out, or at any point this year, since it is not among the launch partners that Microsoft chose.

It can still release products running the “normal” version of the operating system though.

The Iconia W510 is one of these products. Powered by the dual-core 1.5 GHz Intel Atom Z2760 Clover Trail CPU, it will ship from November 9 onwards, for $500 / 500 Euro or more, not counting the keyboard dock, which needs $150 / 150 Euro extra.

The device has an HD LCD (1366 x 768 pixels), Gorilla Glass protection for the panel, up to 64 GB NAND Flash storage space, a microSD card slot, micro-HDMI, a micro-USB 2 port and a battery life of nine hours.

The dock adds nine more hours and a full-size USB port.

We're not sure what to think. The price isn't exactly low and may, in fact, make AMD Z-60-powered slates more appealing (assuming AMD goes with the “cheaper but just as good” tactic).
