CeBIT may not have brought any piece of mind to end-users seeking official details on NVIDIA's Fermi cards, but it seems that not all IT companies are as tight-lipped as the GPU maker. A significant amount of unreleased or unannounced products have made their appearance at the expo in Hanover, Germany, products such as as-of-yet unavailable motherboards and concept laptops. Among the companies that were gracious enough to appease consumers is Acer, which was willing to disclose the price of the highly anticipated Timeline 1820PT convertible tablet.

Convertible tablets, of course, are not exactly a new invention, but this particular model from Acer is rather uncommon, because it is larger than most netbooks and has rather high performance capabilities. Specifically, the tablet has a multi-touch-capable, LED-backlit screen that measures no less than 11.6 inches. The PC itself is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo dual-core central processing unit and also has 4GB of RAM and a hard drive with a storage capacity of 160GB, 250GB or 320GB. The product comes with the capabilities of the Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics.

Concerning connectivity and I/O capabilities, Acer's portable PC has Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a 5-in-1 card reader, a Crystal Eye webcam and an HDMI output. Finally, the Timeline 1820PT runs the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.

While the specs of this machine might or might not have been known before CeBIT, what was still undisclosed were the pricing and availability details. Unfortunately, the company chose to continue its vow of silence when it came to the latter, but, according to Engadget, it finally revealed the price. The convertible tablet will have a starting tag of 599 Euro.

There is no knowing when the convertible tablet will be formally made available, although the actual date should make itself known soon.
