14 DAY TRIAL // Following recent reports on the Internet, Acer, one of the world's leading vendors of computer systems, has now officially announced the introduction of its latest TravelMate 8000 series of laptops, a line of ultraportable computer systems designed to meet the requirements of business users. Based on the company's CULV-infused Timeline series, the new models have been featured with low-power processors, ultra-thin design and a sleek form factor, enabling users to easily carry them around and take advantage of an energy-efficient performance level.
“With an Acer ultra-thin laptop powered by ultra-low voltage Intel Core 2 Duo processor and Intel Core 2 Solo processors, business users experience a balance of performance and energy consumption that is highly desirable for business users today,” commented Tim Black, business manager, Intel Corporation UK. “By offering an innovative product line, Acer showed once more its ability to integrate Intel technology into leading edge business solutions.”
Available in 13.3-inch, 14-inch and 15.6-inch form factors, these new laptops from Acer will be powered by Intel's ultra-low voltage Core 2 Solo or Duo processors, providing users with an increased level of performance and energy-efficiency, compared to the less-powerful Atom processors, featured on hugely popular netbook systems. In addition, users will be able to take advantage of features like WXGA LED backlit display, featuring 16:9 aspect ratio and 1366 x 768 HD resolution, 3G, Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet or Bluetooth connectivity, built-in Acer Crystal Eye webcamera and microphone for high-quality video conferences, as well as a number of security features designed to protect the user's data.
Powered by Intel's CULV platform, the new TravelMate 8000 Timeline laptop series will be made available with starting prices of £579 (US$958), for the base model. Several configurations are to be made available, taking prices over that of the base model.
