As expected, Acer has just gone official with two new Android smartphones, the Liquid Gallant and Liquid Gallant Duo.

Both smartphones will be available for purchase starting September for prices that will be announced closer to launch. The company also confirmed the Liquid Gallants devices would be available in two colors: Gentle Black and Ceramic White.

According to Acer, Liquid Gallant and Liquid Gallant Duo will be showcased at the company’s booth at IFA 2012, in Berlin, from August 31 to September 5.

The upcoming smartphones are powered by Google’s Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box.

Hardware-wise, both devices will be equipped with MTK 6575 chipsets, which pack 1 GHz single-core processors and 1GB of RAM. There’s also 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

In fact, Acer Liquid Gallant and Liquid Gallant Duo have similar specs with one exception, the latter features dual-SIM dual standby capability.

Each handset sport 4.3-inches qHD capacitive touchscreen displays that support 540 x 960 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

In addition, the devices will come with 5-megapixel rear cameras with autofocus, LED flash and video recording. However, the phones do not feature secondary front-facing cameras for video calls.

The smartphones are powered by 1500 mAh Li-Ion batteries, which have yet to be rated by the manufacturer, though we expect the dual-SIM Liquid Gallant Duo to offer less standby and talk time.

Last but not least, the Liquid Gallants have been confirmed to come with “enhanced Surround Sound,” which is said to offer a “premium clear and loud sound experience.”

This new Acer smartphone mission is quite simple: bring the best experience to all the modern days' explorers, which results in creating a very affordable phone with no compromise on performance and usability,” says Allen Burnes, SPBG EMEA vice president.
