Acer, the world's third largest PC vendor, has announced today the introduction of the new Veriton N260G-U2802CP nettop computer system in the United States. The new desktop computer system has been specifically designed to meet the performance and power requirements of professional users. The system is based on the company's much-hyped Aspire Revo nettop, which is based on the NVIDIA Ion platform, and is
designed to provide users with a true multimedia experience in a compact and low-power package.

“Combining a sleek form factor with power saving technology, the Veriton N260G is a convenient, low-maintenance device for accomplishing basic computing tasks in areas where there is little desk space,” said Leila Axelle Robert, Acer Commercial Systems business manager. “Whether the Veriton N260G is leveraged for classrooms, libraries or administrative purposes, this nettop delivers a streamlined solution for a small investment with a low total cost of ownership.”

Spec wise, the system is powered by a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 processor, coupled with 2GB of DDR2 memory and a 160GB hard drive. Based on the Intel GN40 Express Chipset and the Intel GMA 4500M graphics engine, the new Veriton N260G-U2802CP is ready to provide users with support for some basic computing experience. Additional features include a multi-in-one card reader, six USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, PCI Express Mini 1.1 x1 slot, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n, all within a system that is almost as large as an external optical drive.

Running on Microsoft's Windows XP operating system, the new Veriton nettop is now available through the company's American authorized resellers with prices beginning at US$399. In addition to the specifications of the Intel Atom platform, this system has also been equipped with the Veriton ControlCenter, which is basically a user-friendly utility suite designed to help users improve their computing experience.
