Display solutions with support for 3D are already numerous, but NVIDIA has a certain technology known as HDMI 3D, technology that has only now shown up in a monitor, courtesy of Acer.

That Acer was working on a monitor with support fro NVIDIA's HDMI 3D technology is not exactly news.

In fact, the so-called GN245HQ monitor was uncovered quite a while ago, back in January to be exact.

Now, its maker has finally made the official introduction, having issued a press release in which it describes the product as being “particularly well suited for gaming and enjoying movies.”

The product, as one would expect from a high-end consumer device, has a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, Full HD as it were.

The other major asset is the contrast ratio of 100 million:1, all in a package measuring 23.6 inches (60cm).

The aspect ratio is, a some would expect, 16:9, while LED backlights provide not just brightness, but also energy efficiency.

Other specifications include the obligatory refresh rate of 120 Hz (required for 3D viewing), a response time of 2ms and an integrated IR receiver, which “lets you enjoy 3D TV broadcasting via a set-top box, the best in 3D movies via Blu-ray Disc player, stunning pictures from a 3D camera, and immersive 3D games using a HDMI 3D game console.”

“While offering impressive visuals, the GN245HQ is also a striking sight. A futuristic style with clean, severe lines and sharply angled surfaces underlined its strong character,” says the announcement.

“The elaborate design of the base conveys speed and performance evoking today's fast paced videogames. The power button blends seamlessly with the eye-catching bezel, highlighting the care in designing even the tiniest detail.”

Backed by a 2-year warranty, the Acer GN245HQ should start selling in the middle of March, for £419.99 inc VAT (roughly $675).
