The interaction between man and machine has been a prime concern of technology developers and also sparked a great deal of science fiction films and books. People have been dreaming about holograms and computers that understand human speech for decades.

Real science, unfortunately, has not yet achieved this advanced stage (voice recognition is just a rudimentary larval form of something greater). Actually, more or less, humanity has just seriously entered the touch age, so to speak. Still, even though sentient machines are still a way off, mankind seems to make the best of what it has on hand.

Currently, there is much hype surrounding touch input, especially because the most recent operating systems, including Windows 7, combined with suitable hardware, enable intuitive touch controls that recognize gestures. Manipulating multiple pictures at the same time is also possible. To make the most out of this technology, Acer has decided to release another all-in-one PC dubbed Aspire Z5710 whose 23-inch screen, in addition to a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080, is multi-touch-ready.

The system itself has an Intel Core CPU at its heart, backed up by up to 8GB of RAM and a choice between settling for the Intel GMA HD integrated graphics and an NVIDIA discrete GPU (GeForce GT240M). Up to 1.5TB of storage space can be implemented, so that all full HD videos than one likes may be kept in the same place. Furthermore, a slot load SuperMulti DVD Writer is included, as is a TV tuner.

Other specifications of the PC include a multi-card reader, six USB ports, an HDMI output, 802.11b/g/Draft-N WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and a 1 MP webcam. Finally, the Acer Aspire Z5710 AiO is bundled with a wireless mouse and keyboard and is already shipping in Europe, priced at 999 Euro.
