Acer seems to be very serious about its involvements in the tablet market as the Taiwanese company is now working on two new Acer Iconia designs that will be powered by Nvidia's powerful Tegra 3 SoC paired with a 10-inch 1920x1200 resolution display.

The new models will be known as the Acer Iconia A700 and A701 and were revealed by a document posted on the Acer support website and spotted by Nordic Hardware.

Little is known about these two 10-inchers right now, but the document does reveal that the tablets will be powered by a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 system-on-a-chip device featuring quad Cortex A9 processing cores.

These can be clocked at frequencies up to 1.4GHz and the SoC's integrated graphics core will drive a 1920x1200 resolution display measuring 10-inches in diagonal.

While the 16:10 resolution seems somewhat awkward in today's 16:9 world, most tablets out there are using this display aspect ration, while some models, like Apple's iPad 2, even stick with the much older 4:3 screen format.

As far as the differences between the two models spotted are concerned, the Iconia A701 will most probably just add mobile broadband support to the A700 specs.

The Iconia A700/701 is just one of the tablet models that Acer plans to build around the Tegra 3 chip, since it was recently revealed that the Taiwanese maker is also working on the Iconia A511 that will include the same Nvidia SoC.

Some other tablets that are to be powered by this chip also include the Asus Transformer Prime and a yet unnamed HTC creation that is expected to be unveiled during MWC 2012 at the end of February.

Asus' new Transformer tablet will arrive next month with a recommended price tag of $499 (360 EUR), for the 32GB version.
