Acer has introduced its affordable Liquid Z smartphone in Europe for quite some time now. However, the smartphone is not yet available in other regions, but that’s about to change as the device will soon make its debut in Asia.

AndroidOS reports that Acer has just announced the upcoming availability of the Liquid Z5 in Taiwan. The smartphone will be available via major carrier Chunghwa Telecom for only NT$6,990 outright, which is about for $230 or €170.

It’s unclear whether or not Acer will sell the dual-SIM version of the Liquid Z5 or customers in Taiwan will only be able to pick the single-SIM variant. We also don’t know if Acer will bring the Liquid Z5 to additional Asian countries.

Anyway, in either case, the Liquid Z5 will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. Obviously, the smartphone won’t receive any other major software update due to its entry-level features.

It is also worth mentioning that Acer is not among the handset makers that offer regular software updates to their devices, so unless it’s something seriously wrong with the phone’s software, the Liquid Z5 will stay on Android 4.2 until discontinued.

On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.3GHz dual-core Mediatek MT6572 (Cortex-A7) processor, a Mali-400 graphics processing unit, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.

Users will also be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card. The Liquid Z5 sports a larger 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution and 196 ppi (pixel density).

There’s also a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, autofocus and video recording, as well as a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Other highlights of the smartphone include HSPA+, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, along with FM Radio, GPS with A-GPS support, DTS sound enhancement, 3.5mm audio jack and 2000 mAh battery.
