Mobile World Congress 2012 is just around the corner and participants are making the last preparations for their upcoming launch events.

Acer is not among the major handset makers, but the company is desperately trying to get into the smartphone business. Acer showcased new smartphones at every MWC exhibition since two years ago.

This year, the company plans to announce a new wave of Android devices, and possibly one or two Windows Phone devices (or none). One of the smartphones leaked a while back is the Acer CloudMobile, which has been awarded with one of iF Design prizes last year.

Acer CloudMobile is expected to be announced next week at the Mobile World Congress 2012, probably along with other devices. One such device might be the Acer Liquid Glow, which will be released with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board.

According to the guys over at Pocket-lint, Acer Liquid Glow will be available in at least three colors: “Sakura Pink,” “Alpine White,” and “Cat's-eye Black.” Rumor has it that the phone will hit shelves this summer, but no additional details are available for the moment.

It appears that Acer confirmed for Pocket-lint that the Liquid Glow sports a 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display and a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and panoramic image capture.

The insides of the phone are not that impressive, which might indicate that this will be one of Acer’s mid-range smartphones.

In this regard, the device will be equipped with a 1 GHz Qualcomm 7227A processor, 1GB of internal memory, 512 MB of RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The phone measures 117 x 58.5 x 11.5 mm and weighs around 125g (battery included). For the time being, these are the only details confirmed by Acer, but more will be revealed next week at the MWC 2012.
