Today, computer maker Acer has officially announced a new smartphone in the popular Liquid series of handsets, namely the Acer Liquid E3.

The new device comes to the market with a 4.7-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, and it should provide users with great photo shooting capabilities, the company notes.

For that, the smartphone offers a 13-megapipxel camera on the back, with ultra-fast focus that will enable its owners to take photos in a blink of an eye.

“The Liquid E3 features a beautiful 4.7 inch high-definition screen with IPS technology which makes images appear vivid at a wider viewing angle,” Acer notes.

“Weighing only 135 grams and with a curved design, the Liquid E3 provides the user with a comfortable holding experience making it easy to grip both vertically and horizontally.”

The Acer Liquid E3 is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, paired with 1GB of RAM. It also features 4GB of internal memory, as well as a 2MP front camera for video calling.

The specifications list of this device also includes Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth, built-in GPS receiver, and Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top.

The phone arrives on the market as a mid-range device, though Acer stresses on the fact that it will deliver better imaging capabilities than other smartphones in the segment, courtesy of the aforementioned 13MP camera.

“Users are no longer restricted to require good lighting in order to take vivid images, with high-speed image processing, brilliant low light photos are captured with high brightness allowing users to take images wherever and whenever they fancy,” the company said.

Additionally, Acer Liquid E3 sports various features coming from Acer themselves, such as SnapNote, AcerCloud, and the AcerFloat User Interface. The latter promises great multitasking capabilities, courtesy of Float Apps and Float Caller notification.

The new handset should become available for purchase in Europe starting with April, featuring a price tag of €199 ($274). It is set to receive an update to Android 4.4 KitKat later this year.

Acer is expected to bring the new mobile phone to the MWC 2014 show in Barcelona next week, and we'll be there to take it for a spin, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
