14 DAY TRIAL // Although this is certainly not the best time for the desktop PC market, it looks like Acer stays committed to providing its customers with the latest hardware solutions on the market. Such is the case with a newly announced version of the company's popular Aspire Predator gaming desktop, which has now received some important hardware upgrades, providing users with enhanced performance and options for the latest components on the market, including Intel's high-end X58 chipset and Core i7 processors.
The new Aspire Predator ASG7710-A41, which has been detailed by Acer Japan, was designed with an Intel Core i7 950 processor, sporting a core speed of 3.06GHz, coupled with 6GB of DDR3 memory and two NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1GB graphics cards. With support for up to 12GB of memory, the new Aspire Predator also sports a 1TB 7200RPM SATA hard drive, Blu-ray optical drive and a bundled G15 gaming keyboard and G9 mouse. As far as performance goes, this system should provide users with high frame rates and benchmark results.
On the connectivity side, the new Aspire Predator gaming desktop comes with no less than eleven USB 2.0 ports, two eSATA ports, four DVI-D outputs and two Gigabit Ethernet ports. There's also a multi-format memory card reader and the same unique exterior design that made Acer's Predator turn heads at various computer shows. Overall, this looks like a choice for high-end computer enthusiasts, as well as gaming users who are looking for a maxed-out desktop PC.
Unfortunately, there are no details on whether the system will be made available in the US and European markets, but if it is, you should be expecting it with a rather high price tag. In Japan, it has been priced at 259,800 yen, which is about US$2,717.
