14 DAY TRIAL // Acer may have said that it had no plans to enter the media slate PC market but, apparently, this doesn't extend to convertible tablets. The Taiwanese PC maker has definitely been focusing on the laptop segment, given that its recent releases or products revealed to be in development were either notebooks, or netbooks. Not only that, but reports have also suggested that the company placed such high volumes of processor orders that it actually strained Intel's supply. Now, Acer's latest products revealed to be nearing official launch are the Aspire 1825PT and 1825PTZ.
The 1825PT is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 central processing unit, which runs at a frequency of 1.3GHz, and has 4GB of RAM to back it up. The 1825PTZ, on the other hand, is powered by the Intel Pentium SU4100 chip which, while having the same 1.3Ghz frequency, is only accompanied by 3GB of memory.
Besides these differences, the two keyboard-equipped slates share the same size, namely 11.6 inches, and have a maximum screen resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. They also come with a 250GB hard disk drive (HDD).
Both of Acer's new convertible tablets come pre-installed with the Microsoft Windows 7 home premium operating system. Unfortunately, there is no exact word on where and when the two Units will became available and only the Aspire 1825PTZ can be found set up for pre-order, at a price of 693.15 Euro. Fortunately, pre-release prices are always larger than what they should be, which means the price tag should drop once Acer makes the formal announcement.
Other products that the company revealed recently but do not have fixed release dates include laptops from the TimelineX series, a new monitor-like device with Internet connectivity and built-in card reader, among other things, as well as a laptop with DirectX 11 graphics and 3D capabilities.
