Another highlight of the New York event might be an Acer wearable

As you might already know, Acer has started sending out invites to its press event scheduled for April 29 in New York.

A few days ago we speculated that the Taiwanese company might be bringing out new tablets and Chromebooks as well as some new tablets. The latest info we have in terms of Acer slates, shows the budget Iconia One 7 going through the FCC, so we can only assume the tablet is pegged for an imminent release.

But earlier in March, an interesting Acer hybrid was uncovered in the rich design product data base red dot 21.

Following the current trend, which puts multi-modal machines at the forefront, Acer’s new model that has been dubbed the Aspire Switch 10 is a device capable of switching between tablet and notebook.

Acer is no stranger to Windows 8 tablets. For example, the device-maker offers the 8-inch Iconia W4-840, as well as the Iconia Tab W500 and Iconia Tab W700. So at this point, we feel there’s a great possibility Acer will refresh the line-up by bringing out the Aspire Switch 10 (fictive name) out in the sun light (via TabTech).

Rounding up all the rumors piled up in the last few weeks, related to upcoming Acer convertibles, we might get to see not one but two Windows 8 hybrids (successors of the Iconia Tab W500 and Iconia Tab W700) in New York.

Back at CeBIT in Hanover, an Acer employee revealed a few details about what could turn out to be the models we've been telling you about.

The so-called Iconia W5 is probably a hybrid laptop with a display that can be anchored in a keyboard dock. The convertible will come with a 10.1-inch display and boast a capable 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution.

The slate will run on the Intel Bay Trail platform combined with at least 2GB of RAM and have Windows 8.1 onboard. The keyboard dock will probably bundle an extra battery that will prologue the life of the overall product (like the Nokia Power Keyboard).

As for the Iconia W7, there’s very little known, except that the model is a hybrid and runs on Windows 8.1 It could come with a larger display, such as 11.6-inch and be equipped with a processor from the Intel Haswell family. This model might fit in with the description of the leaked Acer Aspire Switch 10.

On top of that, Acer will surely present some budget-oriented tablets running Android at the event in New York, like the one spotted clearing the FCC a few days ago.
