Presented for the first time during the CES 2012 fair, Acer’s Iconia Tab A510 tablet running Nvidia’s quad-core Tegra 3 system-on-a-chip (SoC) device will arrive in Europe this April sporting a price tag of 500 EUR ($649 US).

Acer Germany revealed, during a press conference held in Hamburg, that the A510 is expected to enter into production in February or March this year, with the first units being scheduled to arrive in stores in April.

Coming as the smaller brother of the A700, the Iconia Tab A510 also sports a 10.1-inch screen, this time with a more standard 1280x800 resolution, which hides beneath it Nvidia’s quad-core chipset and Android 4.0.

In the A510, the fast Nvidia chipset is paired together with 1GB of RAM memory and can sport either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage space, according to Tablet Test.

On the sides of the tablet, Acer has placed pretty much all the ports and connectors that one might need, including a micro-USB port, a microSD slot, and a mini-HDMI output for connecting an external display or HDTV to the Iconia Tab A510.

On the connectivity side of things, we have both Bluetooth and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, while going for the Iconia Tab A511 will also add 3G to the list.

Acer’s tablet is also equipped with dual cameras, one placed in the front and one in the back, but the resolution that these run at is not yet known.

As far as the software is concerned, the regular Android 4.0 UI will also be joined by a series of Acer apps, such as its control ring interface.

Right now, Acer is saying that the A510 should hit retail for 500 EUR ($649 US), but apparently the outfit can make some slight adjustments to the tablet’s price, if this isn’t able to compete with other similar slates.
