Acer will reportedly fix the affected units, even if they are out of warranty

Acer’s Iconia Tab A500 tablet was released back in 2011 and receives some pretty good reviews, so a lot of customers opted to purchase one.

The slate came with a 10.1-inch screen and 1280 x 800 pixels resolution and bundled a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 clocked at 1000 MHz.

But a few years later since it got released, a lot of users are reporting having issues with the tablet. More specifically, the A500 remains frozen at the Acer logo boot screen.

User headachejoe writes on the Acer official support forums:

"The issue arose, when I was trying to back out of a game that my son had started, and, once at the home screen, I started getting repeated program crash errors (i.e. Laucher has stopped working, wait/close, Agent Dash has stopped working, wait/close, etc)."

"I tried clicking "close" or "ok" (can't remember exactly what the question was), and it ended up running through a list of apps that had been opened at some point or another, while continuing to comeback to the Launcher has stopped working error."

Other fixes, like performing a reboot or factory-reset, don’t seem to be of any use. The thread stretches for an extensive number of pages, where users try to come up with solution.

One that apparently worked for some people can be found on the Someonelikesit blog, but be advised not everybody has reported positive results and your problem might persist.

Apparently, the only way to resolve the issue permanently is to contact Acer and request an one-time free fix (those out of warranty are also eligible).

User lindasmi7 reports Acer has already shipped back a workable unit of the tablet.

"I submitted a work order at Acer support website, received a workorder number, they sent me an e-mail (found it in my junk mail) with instructions on where and how to send my A500 for a onetime free fix. They couriered it back to me and all within 7 days... I'm impressed... It was out of warranty by about 6 months..."

So if you too have similar issues with your Acer A500 tablet don’t hesitate to contact the producing company.
