Initially slated for a May release, Acer Iconia Tab A100 has been delayed constantly due to Honeycomb compatibility issues.

The latest hearsay pointed to a possible September release, but only if Google managed to release another update for its Honeycomb mobile platform that would be optimized to work on smaller-sized screens.

With Android 3.2 ready to be deployed, it appears that Acer decided to re-schedule Iconia Tab A100 launch date for early August.

According to the guys over at Engadget, Acer has just sent out an email to its retail partners to inform them that the tablet should land in stores sometime in early August with a suggested retail price of $300.

Although it won't be a surprise to see the tablet being postponed again, we can assume that this is highly unlikely to happen, especially that all the issues with Honeycomb optimization for 7-inch tablets have been solved.

Acer Iconia Tab A100 comes with a 7-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 600 x 1024 pixels resolution and features the manufacturer's proprietary Acer UI on top of Honeycomb.

Furthermore, the tablet is equipped with NVIDIA's dual-core Tegra 2 processor and packs 512 MB RAM, 8GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Other highlights of the tablet include: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity and Wi-Fi hotspot capability, accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate, Gyro sensor, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and A2DP support, and microUSB and HDMI ports.

Acer Iconia Tab A100 sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording capabilities, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat.

Additionally, the tablet comes with the entire Google Suite package, including Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, as well as Picasa integration, Document viewer and support for Adobe Flash Player 10.3.
