Acer has big plans for the Indian market, as the company confirmed that it would launch a series of smartphones in the country in the next weeks.

It appears that among the unnamed smartphones Acer plans to launch its Android flagship phone, the Iconia Smart.

Although there's no official announcement yet, a company spokesperson said that Acer Iconia Smart is expected to be launched in India in the second week of August.

The announcement comes as a surprise because Acer decided to move the Iconia Smart launch from May to July due to components shortage arising from the catastrophic events in Japan.

However, it seems that this is in fact a new one month delay for those who were expecting to try out the Iconia Smart in July.

Those who are not familiar with Acer's Iconia Smart specs sheet should know that the device comes with a huge 4.8-inch widescreen display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, which makes it look like a tablet rather than a standard smartphone.

Furthermore, the Iconia Smart is bundled with Java script optimization and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 support, as well as ultra-fast high-speed connectivity via HSDPA (14.4 Mbps) and WiFi N for data connection.

The LED backlit display uses the same technology as TV showing super bright and vivid images, while the Dolby Mobile technology delivers immersive sound.

On the inside Acer Iconia Smart features a single core 1GHz Snapdragon processor, which, in addition to the large screen, turns this smartphone into a perfect game console.

Along with the 6-axis motion sensing (Gyroscope + accelerometer), the device may exceed any gamer’s expectation.

The phone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread sweetened with an enhanced Acer user interface.

Other highlights of Iconia Smart include an 8-megapixel main camera with LED flash, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for high-quality video calling.
