According to newly uncovered info from the FCC database, Acer is prepping yet another budget tablet, called the Iconia One 7 that’s bound to arrive on the market soon.

Once upon a time Acer’s Android tablet portfolio used to include premium models with capable specifications including high-resolution screens, powerful processors and other attractive features.

But since business seems to be getting downwards for the device manufacturer, the company seems to have adopted a different policy. Acer now thinks all it needs to get back on track are budget tablet offerings.

After launching a $130 / €94 tablet in January, called the Iconia B1-720, Acer has another one for you, budget tablet seekers.

The new Acer Iconia One 7 has just been spotted going through the FCC and the documentation accompanying it revealed we shouldn't we hoping for anything jaw-dropping when this model is concerned.

The tablet has also showed up in the FutureMark benchmark site not so long ago, but the slate going through the FCC signifies we will see the device arrive in retail not before long.

Now let’s take a short tour through the specifications. The Iconia One 7 has a 7-inch TFT LCD display with a pretty low 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. It draws power from a 1.5GHz VIA WonderMedia WM8880 dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU processor fitted with ARM Mali-400MP2 graphics.

The tablet is also equipped with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). Acer has added two average cameras onboard (1.9MP on the back and 0.3MP in front), 802.11n Wi-Fi (but forget about Bluetooth or GPS) and a 3000 mAh battery to sustain life.

US pricing is not yet known, but judging by what we have detailing so far, the Acer Iconia One 7 will probably sell for somewhere between $99 / €72 and $149 / €108.

Even if the tablet is expected to arrive with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, there’s a pretty big possibility Acer will be pushing the Android 4.4 KitKat update too.

Back in February we told you an Acer representative disclosed the new Iconia A1-830 and B1-720 tablets will be updated to Android’s newest build soon and other tablets, as well. And the Iconia One 7 might be one of the lucky models scheduled to receive the new build.

Acer apparently has big plans for the tablet market in 2014. A company official stated that the device-maker is hoping to ship up to 10 million tablets worldwide.

That would be an impressive increase, judging by the fact in 2013 Acer was estimated to have shipped 5 million tablets worldwide. Will budget tablets help the company achieve its goals?
