Acer might show off a new budget tablet in Berlin this week

IFA 2014 is getting ready to open its doors for us in Berlin and we expect all the major tech players in the industry to be present on the grounds with a handful of new products.

We haven’t been talking about Acer much in the past few weeks. Not since the company has unveiled the NVIDIA Tegra K1 powered Chromebook, which we will most likely be able to spot in Berlin.

But now a new listing uncovered the lofty database that is GFXBench shows us the device maker might have a new tablet in the pipeline and it might just be ready until IFA (as spotted at Mobile Geeks).

The slate goes by the name B-810 and should be one of the company’s budget tablets. This theory is sustained by the fact that the tablet will arrive with modest specs.

The device will boast an 8-inch display with the standard 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and will draw life from an Intel Atom Z3735G processor (Bay Trail) clocked at 1.33GHz (1.86GHz in Turbo Mode) fitted with just 1GB of RAM.

The tab takes advantage of 8GB of internal memory and two cameras (2MP on the back and VGA shooter up in front). An interesting aspect to note here is that, according to the listing, the tablet should arrive with the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat version.

This is good news, especially since Acer is known to have been quite sluggish in providing users with the promised software updates.

Couple that with an inexpensive price tag (around $150 / € 114, let’s say) and the tablet could be a major hit with consumers.

For example, you might remember that back in February Acer promised the Iconia A1 (old and new versions) and A3 would be receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat update soon.

But as months went by and nothing happened, lots of users started to question the validity of this affirmation.

Finally, last week the first reports of owners receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat OTA on their Acer Iconia A1-830 surfaced online.

However, with a slate already operating on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, you won’t have to worry about any updates (except until Android Lemon Merengue Pie comes along).

Anyway, for those of you who own an Acer Iconia A1-830 and want to update to the new build, be advised that the new build has caused some problems with some devices, like the inability to use Facebook or Facebook Messenger.
