At MWC 2014 Acer didn’t mention anything about the B1-720 line

Acer launched the new Iconia A1-830 and B1-720 budget tablets before CES 2014 and since then the company has released promo videos for each of them.

In the videos, one particular detail stood out, the fact that Acer is prepping the Android 4.4 KitKat update for these particular models, which run Android 4.2 out of the box.

Furthermore, more slate were said to be targeted for the update. TabletGuide has managed to track an Acer representative and get some clarifications. Apparently, the Iconia A1 (both new and old version) and the A3 slates will be getting Android 4.4 KitKat treatment.

So, we basically have the Iconia A1-810, A1-830 and Iconia A3-A10 which will be getting updated to the new operating system soon. Sadly, an exact date was not provided, but we can assume it won’t take long.

Unlike other manufactures that are taking their time to provide the Android 4.4 KitKat update, Acer should be hailed for being one of the speedier ones.

For example ASUS is barely pushing out the Android 4.3 update to some of its tablets, while LG is expected to provide the much-anticipated new build for its G Pad 8.3 for a while now.

Interestingly enough, it’s the budget manufacturers like Acer or Alcatel that are taking an interest in updating their users as fast as possible.
