One of the Android-based devices that will arrive on shelves later this year is the Acer Iconia A1, which leaked at the beginning of this month, and which is expected to hit shelves with a very affordable price tag attached to it.

The tablet has already been previewed by the guys over at tablet.bg, who confirmed its lower cost when compared to rival devices such as iPad mini, at only 169 Euro ($221), as well as a possible end of June release date.

Although an affordable device, the Acer Iconia A1 will arrive on shelves with appealing hardware specs, including a 7.9-inch capacitive IPS touchscreen display capable of delivering a 1024 х 768 pixel resolution.

The slate also features a 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek MT8125 (Cortex-A7) processor inside, with a PowerVR SGX GPU and 1GB of RAM, which should result in pretty decent performance capabilities being delivered to users.

The Acer Iconia A1 also arrives on shelves with 8GB / 16GB of internal memory (though only 11.8GB will be available to users), as well as with a microSD memory card slot.

Additionally, the tablet PC will sport a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for full HD video recording capabilities, as well as a VGA camera on the front, which should prove a good option when it comes to making video calls.

The hardware specifications list for this device also includes a 3250 mAh battery, along with Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro USB 2.0, GPS receiver, various sensors, such as accelerometer and gyroscope, and the usual headphone and microphone.

Acer Iconia A1 will arrive on shelves with Google’s Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top. It measures only 11.10 mm, while weighing 460 grams. We’re still several weeks away from the official arrival of this device, but stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
