Acer has just started making its new Iconia W4 tablet available in markets across the world, but it appears the slate maker is readying another model for you, avid tableters.

It’s an odd-looking tablet, with a rectangular design, but maybe those looking for something a little more different than the usual standard will take a liking to this, especially since its design features an aluminum metal back cover.

The Acer Iconia A1-830 is a 7.9-inch device, sporting an LED-backlit IPS display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and 4:3 aspect ratio.

The company has slipped in a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2650 processor with 1GB of RAM, complete with Hyper-Threading technology and PowerVR SGX544 GPU.

Acer also adds 16GB of internal storage (extendable to 32GB via the microSD card) and two cameras (5MP rear one with 1080p video recording and 2MP front snapper with 720p video recording). On top of that, users will get Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and microUSB.

Acer says the tablet is perfect to provide a flawless portable media experience, which includes smooth video playback and the delivery of rich sounds via the tablet’s dual-speakers.

The slate is expected to provide up to 7.5 hours of battery life witch is quite decent, but the company mentions this could vary based on model, configuration, apps and power management settings. The slate is also very light, weighing just 380 g / 0.83 lbs.

The Acer official press release doesn't mention which Android version will run on the device, but we can speculate its Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Acer will make the Iconia A1-830 available starting with the end of February for €169 / $231 a pop. On top of that, Acer will offer a variety of fun accessories with the slate. We have seen the Crunch Keyboard and Crunch Cover being detailed in a video before and they look stylish and versatile enough to be a perfect tablet companion.
