The tablet will probably retail for a budget-friendly price

Acer has multiple budget tablets out on the market, but that doesn’t mean the company will refrain from putting out even more.

The folks over at Tablet Guide managed to dig up the next Acer budget tablet on the rooster, which will arrive in the wild as the Iconia 7 A1-724.

And since more and more manufacturers are launching tablets with phone capabilities, Acer is jumping on the same bandwagon too.

Acer's next budget tab will have voice calling

We have seen multiple 7-inchers that can be used as phones as well, including the ASUS FonePad, Huawei MediaPad X1 or HP VoiceTab 7.

Well, this will be the first tablet computer to come out of Acer with voice-calling capabilities and a 7-inch display.

There isn’t a whole lot of information related to the specifications of the tablet, so we can only speculate. It seems quite likely that the tablet will offer at least 1280 x 768 pixel resolution, but we wouldn't mind if Acer ends up surprising us and offering better than average 1920 x 1080 res onboard.

In all probability, Acer will slip an Intel processor inside, most likely from the Bay Trail or Moorefield family. As can be spotted in the pictures, the tablet will be offered with stylish blue paint job, but it’s currently unclear whether more options are going to be made available.

The Iconia 7 A1-724 will probably also be equipped with a microSD and microUSB, but that’s where we have to draw the line spec-wise.

The tablet should have Android 4.4 KitKat on top

Hopefully, the upcoming tablet will run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, so users won’t have to be forced to wait for updates. We all know Acer is usually taking its sweet time when it comes to rolling out new software for its products.

Owners of the Iconia A1-830 know this very well, as they waited months before receiving what was promised to them when the device launched.

Even so, when the update finally arrived into the wild, some users found that the new build was causing their devices to freeze and become inoperable, while for others it slowed down performance to annoying levels.

Since Android L is on the way, most tablets launched today should take advantage of Android 4.4 KitKat when they arrive on the market.

In related news, the Acer Iconia One 8 with Android 4.4 KitKat with an 8-inch screen (1280 x 800 pixel resolution) and an Intel Atom Z3735G quad-core processor is expected to make a debut soon with a price-tag of €149 / $149.
