Acer has made more than just a few new product launches today. Just after AMD
unleashed its complete platform portfolio for desktops and, most importantly, mobile PCs, Acer brought out not just a
netbook, but also an
ultrathin laptop and a pair of
mainstream notebooks. This much, however, doesn't seem to be enough for the Taiwanese company, whose exhibition also includes the 15.6-inch Aspire 5553 and 14-inch Aspire 4553.
These two PCs are meant to deliver the best in entertainment, advanced multitasking, rich 3D gaming, stunning audio and video and reliable connectivity. They run on a combination of AMD new mobile processors, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series graphics, up to 12GB of DDR3 memory and large-capacity hard disks.
The Aspire x553 machines also boast Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g/Draft-N Wi-Fi CERTIFIED network connection, optional Bluetooth 3.0, a multi-in-1 card reader, a Blu-ray drive, an HDMI output, USB connectivity, and a built-in Acer Crystal Eye webcam. Furthermore, the notebooks are designed with Dolby Home Theater v3 with surround sound and Acer CineCrystal LED-backlit displays with a cinematic 16:9 aspect ratio.
“The new Aspire x553 series includes everything you need to enjoy an extraordinary entertainment experience as well as outstanding performance to be productive or have fun at home or away. Enclosed in a classy design with a streamlined profile you can find all the latest technologies to provide superior computing capability, stunning audio and visuals and reliable connectivity,” the press release states. “Advanced multitasking, playing rich 3D games, music and photo editing, creating/editing HD movies the Aspire x553 notebooks are the perfect instruments to let you unleash your creativity.”
As all the other products on display at Cannes, France, Acer's Aspire 5553 and 4553 have not been given a price and release date. It shouldn't be overly long until they actually start shipping, however.
