It appears that Acer has troubles releasing one of its Iconia Tab family devices, as the A100 tablet was postponed several times during 2011.

Initially slated for a May release, the Iconia Tab A100 was delayed because of Google's inability to optimize its Honeycomb platform to 7-inch tablets.

The latest official statements coming from Acer said that the tablet is scheduled for the latter half of 2011.

However, with Android 3.2 Gingerbread update already in the process of deployment, it appears that Acer decided to reschedule the Iconia Tab A100 for September.

Android 3.2 firmware update optimizes Gingerbread platform for 7-inch displays, which means that we will probably see more previously delayed tablets released on the market.

Acer Germany has just confirmed the release of Iconia Tab A100 via Facebook: “... [Iconia Tab A100] is planned to launch on the market in Germany in September this year. We look forward to it already! Best regards, Your team Acer.”

Those who are not familiar with the tablet's specs sheet, the Iconia Tab A100 comes with a 7-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 600 x 1024 pixels resolution and features the manufacturer's proprietary Acer UI on top of Honeycomb.

Furthermore, the tablet is equipped with NVIDIA's dual-core Tegra 2 processor and packs 512 MB RAM, 8GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Other highlights of the tablet include: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity and Wi-Fi hotspot capability, accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate, Gyro sensor, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and A2DP support, and microUSB and HDMI ports.

Acer Iconia Tab A100 sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording capabilities, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat.

Additionally, the tablet comes with the entire Google Suite package, including Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, as well as Picasa integration, Document viewer and support for Adobe Flash Player 10.3.
