Stan Shih says it's enough that Acer turned profitable again

After years of losing more money than it made, Acer managed to turn back to profitability in 2014, which is, according to the company founder, the most important thing.

The company's financial situation is a bizarre thing. Consolidated revenues hit an 8-year low in 2014, but somehow the company was able to make a profit, however small.

More specifically, Acer made $10.37 billion / €8.97 billion last year, which was 8.4% lower than in 2013.

Normally, the CEO would get a lecture or worse from the board of directors, but this did not happen in this case. Instead, he appears to have the full support of the company's founder Stan Shih.

For those interested in history, Acer's woes may date to early 21st century, but they got really bad in 2010, when tablets were released and proceeded to murder the netbook market within a single year, maybe less.

Since Acer was heavily reliant on the low-cost laptops at the time, its business suffered greatly during that time. The corporation has been struggling to reorient itself ever since.

Acer is currently trying to establish a new business culture and value, not to mention regain some morale after the dismal near-decade.

The new company tactics will be elaborated upon after the Lunar New Year holidays in February.
