To get the Chromebook at this cost you’ll have to trade in your old XP machine

Last month, Microsoft wooed customers into abandoning their old-Windows XP running machines by offering $100 / €73 credit towards the purchase of a new PC. Of course there was a caveat involved, because to get advantage of the offer, you had to purchase a system priced at $599 / €437 or more.

And Best Buy is apparently backing up Microsoft with this, and starting tomorrow, April 6 it will be offering a minimum of $100 / €73 credit towards the purchase of a new Apple/Windows or Chromebook product, provided you trade in your old XP machine.

So that means Acer’s C720 Chromebook will be ship out to customers for a meager $99 / €72. The credit comes from the $25 / €18 Best Buy gift card combined with $75 / €55 new-PC coupon that’s being offered alongside it.

Of course you can apply the credit to any other product, but the extra $100 / €73 off will allow you to purchase a Chromebook for a ridiculous quantity of money.

The C720 bundles an Intel Celeron processor combined with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of SSD drive and 11.6-inch screen. A pretty standard offering but at this price, it’s pretty great.
