Those on the market for gaming notebooks probably refer to companies like MSI, ASUS, Origin, Razer or Dell to get their craving fulfilled.

On the other hand, Acer is a company best known for its tablets and Chromebook products. But the device maker is currently offering a gaming notebook that doesn't look half bad.

Say hello to the Aspire V Nitro lineup, which comes available in 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch models. The company is also selling the laptops in the Black Edition version, which bares the particularity of having the company’s logo plastered on the touchpad.

The appearance of the devices is rather nice, as the laptops seem to be quite sleek and boasting sharp lines. The Nitro lineup comes with a backlit keyboard with red light and a pretty spacious touchpad.

Both models of the notebook take advantage of a Full HD display (1920 x 1200 pixels) with IPS Technology to provide wide viewing angles.

In the computing department, Acer is throwing in the latest 4th-gen Intel Core (Haswell) palette of chips coupled with NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards up to GTX 860M.

Sadly, Acer doesn't go further up the ladder in the GPU department, so if you want the high-end GTX 880M or GTX 870M standard, you will have to look somewhere else. For example, the MSI GT72 Dominator Pro offers that option.

The new Acer gaming series arrives with two Wi-Fi antennas, capable of processing data twice as fast compared to the traditional single antenna solution.

The company makes use of its own DustDefender technology, which is a system that helps maintain the laptop’s fan dust-free.

At this point, we should also tell you that the new gaming gear takes advantage of dual-fan cooling, plus a CoolBoost manual mode which bumps up the rotation of fans in order to keep the laptop sweat free.

In the storage department, this gaming beast comes with a traditional hard drive with maximum capacity of 1TB plus an optional 256GB SSD.

The lappy also takes advantage of an optical Blu-ray drive with the option of adding a new M-Disk, which is said to be able to conserve data for up to 1000 years.

All products from the V Nitro family will be made available to customers in the third quarter of the year (that means most likely in September). At first, the laptops will be sold in Asia and the EMEA region (Europe, Middle-East and Africa).

Acer has yet to confirm the prices for the gaming laptops and whether they will be sold in the US.
